Dirty fans can cause overheating of your computer.

Overheating can cause, not only a system "meltdown", but problems with software and programs.

Think of your fans like a radiator in your car....

when there's no water/antifreeze in your radiator your car overheats and shuts down.

This can also happen to a computer if the interior components (including fans) are not kept "clean".

What can you do?

By some canned air and routinely blow out your tower (front and back).

If your computer is sitting on the floor, purchase (or build - if you're handy) a computer stand to get your computer off the floor.

This will help not only with dust but with air circulation for your tower.

Keep the area around your computer tower free from dust.
